A flower inspired wedding ring
Hello. Are you feeling cosy for Autumn yet? I really love this time of year!
I’ve been sorting through a few photos of jewellery that I made this year and would love to share some photos of a wedding ring that I made. Much of my jewellery is inspired by nature, plants and trees, so I was delighted when a client asked me to make her a wedding band featuring dogwood flowers. Dogwood flowers often feature in antique jewellery and have meaningful symbolism. In the Victorian era bachelors would offer a dogwood flower to the woman they had feelings for as a symbol of their affection. They’re also a symbol of resilience, purity and rebirth.
My client wanted a simple wishbone shaped gold band to wear alongside to her meadow morganite engagement ring that I’d made for her previously. I chose to carve three dainty dogwood flowers framed by tiny leaves in the centre of the band. I really enjoyed the challenge of carving the flowers on such a small scale!
The wax was cast in yellow gold, then tidied up, refined and polished. I love how delicate the little flowers look and I think it compliments the engagement ring perfectly.
Are there any flowers you’d like to see featured as jewellery? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
