Whether it’s bridal jewellery or a piece to mark a special occasion, the bespoke jewellery journey is a very personal one where we’ll work together to bring your piece to life.
We will start by discussing your initial ideas by email, zoom, or in person. The journey begins by talking about your ideas, and selecting your choice of gold: 9ct, 14ct or 18ct yellow, rose or white gold. At this early stage we’ll also discuss your choice of gemstones; whether you’d like a special stone to be sourced from one of my trusted suppliers, or your heirloom stone that you’d like repurposed.
Design Drawings
As the first step of the process I will help you visualise your jewellery. I will send you sketches and quotes based on what we have discussed. A deposit of £50 is required for this stage. This will be deducted from the final price of your finished piece. Please note, this deposit is non-refundable should you choose to cancel your commission.
Wax Carving and making
The next step of the journey is creating your piece, based on your finalised drawing. My jewellery is handmade using the ancient lost wax casting method. A 50% payment is paid to proceed to this step. I will send progress photos as I carve your piece in wax. Once complete, your piece will be cast into gold by my trusted caster in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter.
Finishing and refining
The final step is to finish and refine your piece, adding final details into the metal. Gemstones will be set, and your piece polished and finished. Your jewellery will then be assayed and hallmarked. The remainder of the payment is required on completion.
Further Information
Commissions take 8-12 weeks to complete. You will receive updates, photos and videos of gemstones and of the work at each step of the process described above. Alternative payment plans are available, for example, if you’d like to pay in three or four instalments. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this.
